You can do a simple experiment to prove that black is a better collector of solar energy than white.  You need 2 tin cans, a black paint, a white paint and a room thermometer.  First, paint the cans-one black, one white.  Then, fill the cans with water.  Afterward, put the cans in direct sunlight for three hours.  After three hours, check the temperature of the water in the cans and compare.  If you follow these steps, you will find the temperature of the water in the black can is higher in the end.
